ANOTHER CARP SON EARNS DEGREE
Publishing Date: May 28, 2010
"With CARP, poverty is not a hindrance to success", says Ronald Galano, 21 years old, who graduated Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering at the Caraga State University, Ampayon, Butuan City last April 13, 2010.

Graduated with three others in his course, Galano considered this graduation as one of his best achievements in life. He described the moment to be fulfilling and with all his gratitude, he thanked the Comprehensive Agarian Reform Program for helping him realize his dreams.

Galano is a recipient of the President Diosdado Macapagal Scholarship Program, a special support service of DAR to less fortunate but qualified and deserving sons and daughters of agrarian reform beneficiaries. His parents are the very first fruit of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program, who were installed by no less than the former President Corazon Aquino in 1988.

"Challenged by the hopelessness of time, my ultimate goal from now is to pursue my license, help my family and alleviate them from poverty. Because I believe in the challenge that for every family alleviated out from poverty, is a minus to the care of the government", says Galano.

DAR will again offer the same opportunity for other interested ARB youts as the school year will open again on June.
1600 HECTARES FOR LANDLESS TILLERS FROM DAR IN 2010
Publishing Date: May 28, 2010
A total of 1,600 hectares of agricultural lands is set for distribution by the Department of Agrarian Reform in the Province of Agusan del Sur. The figure came out as a result of the series of workshops conducted by DAR as mandated by the CARPER law.

With the enactment of Republic Act 9700 last August 2009 which provided for the extension of the land acquisition and distribution activity, DAR strategize to distribute the area that remained to be distributed.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Marino M. Gayramon stressed that DAR is committed to distribute the remaining agricultural lands that can still be covered by CARP. "The department is very serious about ist thrusts towards equitable and ownership", says Gayramon.

He further hopes to that more landless tillers will become genuine landowners in the next five years. "These beneficiaries of CARP-covered lands will surely help the country in its efforts towards poverty alleviation,"he added.

"We will continue to serve our best", he stressed during the meeting with the Regional Executives last April 7, 2010, not only to prove to the Legislative Branch's oversight committee, "but because we are serious about the future of our tillers".

Gayramon also calls upon all CARP-implementing agencies to support the department in its endeavor.
