DAR-Davao del Norte brings home 4 awards

THE Davao del Norte provincial office of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently grabbed the limelight after winning all four national awards during the LinksFarm Agro-Enterprise Development Learning Session and Recognition Program for Agro-Enterprise Facilitators in Quezon City.

DAR Undersecretary for Policy, Planning and Research Virginia N. Orogo handed Most Inspiring AED Visual Story Award, Best AED Portfolio Award, Most Improved AED Team Award and Well-Written Caselet Award to the jubilant DAR-Davao del Norte officials, led by Officer-in-Charge Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer I Leo F. Nuñeza and Braulio E. Dujali Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer John M. Bautista.

The winning AED visual story is a video documentation of the inspiring life story of LinksFarm beneficiary Maria Ligaya Eugenio, who hails from the municipality of Braulio E. Dujali. She is a rice farmer and an active member of Dujali Free Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative, a DAR-assisted agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organization.

LinksFarm is an innovative program of the DAR. It helps smallholder farmers increase agricultural productivity by applying value chain process. It links the products of the farmers to regular buyers, eliminating, in the process, the middlemen or fixing traders.

The Knowledge and Learning Fair is the culmination of the three LinksFarm AED courses in Butuan City in July 2018, Cagayan de Oro City in September 2018 and in Davao City in November 2018.

All courses deal with agro-enterprise development of the farmers where AED students are trained to become agro-entrepreneurs. It was also an opportunity to give due recognitions to the deserving LinksFarm focal persons in the country for their hard work in pooling all the needed data and requirements.
