Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Legal Services Director Marvin Bernal and DAR Anti-Corruption Task Force Director Alexander Alimmudin Ali recently took their oath as new deputies of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) to assist the group in the investigation of cases in the Department’s jurisdiction.

The order of deputation, headed by PACC Chairman Dante Jimenez, took place in the Heroes Hall of Malacanang Palace during the 1st anniversary of the Commission.

Jimenez said the newly appointed deputies from various agencies would assist and help the PACC evaluate cases as well as police their own ranks to ensure public accountability and good governance.

“We cannot do it alone. We need your help and we will have our regular meetings, if you have some creative ideas for the commission to adapt, tell us, because we have around 100 million Filipinos who are expecting so much from the promises of the President to minimize the corruption in our bureaucracies,” Jimenez said.

PACC’s initiative to deputize the agencies is pursuant to Executive Order 43 granting the PACC the power to enlist their support to assist the commission in the investigation of cases falling within their respective jurisdictions.

The DAR is one among various government agencies that were appointed with new deputies.

Early this year, Agrarian Reform Secretary John R. Castriciones created an anti-corruption task force in support of the initiatives of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to combat corruption in government.

Castriciones directed the DAR Anti-Corruption Task Force to conduct thorough investigations into information received by the department and enjoined DAR employees to cooperate in this drive against corruption.
