DAR Cebu signs MOA with CTU

In line with the celebration of the 31st anniversary of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) - Cebu Provincial Office, led by Dr. Antonio A. Del Socorro, PARPO II, recently signed a memorandum of agreement with the Cebu Tehnical University (CTU) through its SUC President Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta.

Expressly provided in the agreement is the provision of assistance of CTU in terms of technology transfer, technical expertise and other assistance that fall within its mandate that would benefit agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARB) and other small holder farmers.

The CTU is an institution of higher learning mandated to perform four functions, namely: instruction, research, extension and production. The extension services of the CTU aims to provide small, marginalized communities of the Province of Cebu the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills for sustained productivity, profitability, and well being.

The CTU has 24 campuses across the province which are all committed to collaborate to develop innovative skills of household members of the agrarian reform beneficiaries, other than farming with which they can earn livelihood for additional income, under their research and extension program.

Under the MOA, DAR Cebu will coordinate with the CTU campuses and ARBs in the detailed implementation scheme of the projects, to include the supervision, shouldering of expenses in the conduct of technology transfer trainings, and monitoring the implementation of the projects.

In line with the agreement, the CTU shall showcase farm-based technology transfer trainings with the identified farmer cooperators or their organizations in line with CTU's research and extension program. Expressly stated in the MOA is the mutual coordination of both parties in the implementation of the projects for the benefit of the farmers and their respective ARB organizations.

The MOA signing conducted at Golden Valley Hotel, Cebu City, was witnessed by DAR Cebu Employees, ARBs and selected partner CARP-implementing government line agencies.
