Quezon farmers get land titles

DAR Regional Director Rene Colocar hands over a CLOA to a farmer-beneficiary.

SAN FRANCISCO, Quezon—Former coconut farm workers of private landholdings here are happy to have finally sealed their ownership to their lands with the recent distribution of certificates of landownership award (CLOA) by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

DAR Regional Director Rene Colocar led the distribution of CLOAs to 50 agrarian reform beneficiaries under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program extension with reform (CARPer).

“As owners of the land, farmers will be freed from the burden of paying rentals for the use of the land and from fear of getting ejected as tenants,” Colocar said.

The properties of the Matias clan namely Mario, Michael and Moises that were distributed to the farmers covered 120.5 hectares and are located in Barangays Silongin and Casay.

Coconut farmers of Quezon pose with their CLOAs.

Colocar told the new landowners that government’s support for them under the CARPer does not end in the distribution of lands, there are also various support services to boost their economic lives.

“The DAR, Department of Agriculture (DA), the Land Bank of the Philippines and other CARP-implementing agencies coordinate with each other to ensure that program beneficiaries will have a better life after receiving their land titles,” Colocar said.

“Now that you own the land, be responsible and make it productive and progressive, we at the DAR will provide you with support services to help you achieve this,” Colocar said.
