ARBO members volunteer in relief services

Members of the Malanog Calatrava Agrarian Reform Farmers Association (MACARFA), a farmer-beneficiaries organization assisted by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Negros Occidental 1 (North), volunteers in various relief services in Barangay Malanog, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

In the middle of the unprecedented battle against Coronavirus Disease (COVID) – 19, a crisis that affected the nation, an association with no enough resources opted to standout by volunteering and providing their services in all forms to assist and support their local governing unit in the implementation of the safety measures in aid of their fellows.

The relief goods being packed will be distributed to all of the households of the said barangay which will run from March 30 until April 14, 2020.

Also, all agrarian reform beneficiary (ARB) members of the association with habal-habal served as purchasers and delivery men to augment to hasten the said services. Others volunteer to be in the front-line services such as traffic enforcers and temperature checkers at various checkpoints.

Such a humble act of selflessness is a reminder that the Bayanihan Spirit is alive and the resilience of the Filipinos is unbendable whatever difficult scenarios will arise. 

MACARFA, an agrarian reform cooperative, has a total of 41 ARBs and 68 members with a total land area of more than 70 hectares acquired under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

As front-liners to the production of food, an essential need for all in this Enhanced Community Quarantine period in the province, and as important as our medical personnel attending and providing intensive care to the disease-stricken patients, our farmers are also the unsung heroes, working to deliver food straight to our tables.
