ARBO sets good example

Nazareth Farmworkers Association (NAFWA), a farmer-beneficiaries organization assisted by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Negros Occidental 1 (North), gave out financial cash assistance to its members and other non-agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) last March 26, 2020.

A story of generosity and goodwill continues to bloom despite the Coronavirus Diseases (COVID)–19 pandemic that strained thousands worldwide, this humble agrarian reform beneficiary organization (ARBO), located in Hacienda Nazareth, Barangay Purisima, Manapla, Negros Occidental, shows an inspiring act of kindness among its fellow farmers and farmworkers amid these hard and trying times.

This socially responsible selfless act, amidst the unprecedented time of crisis, is what we need today to remind us that despite how scare or abundant our resources are, we must also consider and be mindful of the needs of others.

The initiative was taken from the huge chunk of the gains they have earned from their dividends and quedans out of their harvest from the previous crop year.

DAR Negros Occidental North will continually capacitate and mold the various organizations in the province to be an effective, efficient, and model associations and citizens of the nation.

NAFWA, an agrarian reform cooperative, has a total of 63 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) which collectively manages the 7-hectare sugarcane plantation acquired under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

As front-liners to the production of food, an essential need for all in this Enhanced Community Quarantine period in the province, and as important as our medical personnel attending and providing intensive care to the disease-stricken patients, our farmers are also the unsung heroes, working to deliver food straight to our tables.
