DAR Kalinga targets 1,172 has. for land tenure improvement until 2015

piaTABUK CITY, Kalinga, April 16 (PIA) - - The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) provincial office here targets to cover 1,172 hectares under its land tenure improvement program until 2015.

Edano Canao, provincial agrarian reform officer,  said 54 hectares  are  targeted to be covered through compulsory acquisition where government will  distribute these lands to the landless with just compensation.

He said another 68 hectares are  covered under voluntary land transfer where the land owners and occupants agree on the process of their transfer agreeing, among others on the price with DAR as facilitator.

On process for distribution this year are 186 hectares pipelined  in 2013.

He said they have also identified 122 hectares of new lands which are potential for distribution and pipelined this current year. These new lands are included in the programmed target for 2015.(JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
