DAR Agusan del Norte turns over farm tools to farmer groups

news reg 1 pix 1 july 31 2018 modifiedThe Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently turned over Php 225,000.00 worth of farm implements to two (2) agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations (ARBOs) in Agusan del Norte to boost their agricultural productivity.

The farm implements, which are composed of a farm cultivator and power sprayer, would benefit at least 143 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) and non-ARB members of Dona Rosario CLOA holders and Vegetable Producers Association (DRCHVPA) and Cabayawa Sala Farmers Association (CASAFA).

DAR Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II (PARPO II) Andre B. Atega said that the tools are substantial support to ARBO’s agri-enterprise development activities to improve their productivity and increase their income.

“As stipulated in the memorandum of agreement (MOA) between DAR and the ARBOs during the turn-over, it is expected that these implements should be always in tip-top condition  to sustain farmers livelihood,” Atega said.

Atega further said that one of the DAR’s responsibilities is to monitor the usage of the farm implements to ensure that other neighboring farmers, ARB or non-ARB, could also avail and use the tools.

The farm tools are provided under the DAR’s the Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (PAHP) program. The program, which was launched on last month adopts a convergence approach among DAR, local government unit of Tubay, and ARBO to mitigate hunger and food self-sufficiency through sustainable livelihood program (LSP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The turn-over ceremony was held in Brgy. Dona Rosario in the municipality of Tubay.

Chairman Hector dela Cruz, on his part, promised to take responsibility by urging the ARBO members to cooperate and innovate measures to propel their organization’s operations which would result to increase in their farm yields. (By Gil Miranda)
