DAR breaks ground coffee processing center in SurSur

piaTANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, Feb. 17 (PIA) – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the local government unit (LGU) of Tagbina led recently the groundbreaking ceremony of the Coffee Processing Center in Tagbina, Surigao del Sur.

The said project, which was funded under the Expanded Village Level Processing Center Enhancement Project (E-VLCEP), is expected to boost the productivity of the agrarian entrepreneurs of the Mabuhay Kahayagan Coffee Growers Coop (MKCGC) and other DAR assisted organizations within the locality.

Tagbina mayor Generoso Naraiso has assured the partner agencies that they will provide a counterpart to the said project.

Meanwhile, DAR provincial agrarian reform officer (PARO) Benjamin Mataksil encouraged the benefeciaries to be globally competitive.

On the other hand, DTI provincial director Romel Oribe said that their office is willing to assist the cooperative in the product promotion and other entrepreneurial activities to increase their productivity income.

The ceremonial ground breaking was led by Mayor Naraiso together with PARO Mataksil and DTI Provincial Director Oribe and other LGU officials, staff and members of the MKCGC.  (NGBT/Myra Q. Yu, DAR-SDS/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
