BUTUAN CITY – More than 1,000 farmers and agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) walked from the City Hall grounds here to the Agusan del Norte capitol covered court last June 30, 2015 to celebrate the 27th Anniversary of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) and to call for the program’s continuation beyond 2016.
Organized by the Federation of Agrarian Reform Community Cooperatives (FEDARCCO), the activity ended with a farmers’ forum attended by Agusan del Norte Governor Maria Angelica Rosedell Amante-Matba, Agrarian Reform Regional Director Julita Ragandang and Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer (PARO) Andre Atega.
Governor Amante-Matba acknowledged the very important role of the farmers essentially farming families in feeding the province.Director Ragandang challenged the farmers to continue to strengthen their organizations as the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) will continue to provide interventions to improve the farmers’ quality of life. “We will continue to serve more beyond land distribution,” she said.
In Caraga. 92 percent of the 304,000 hectares working scope has already been distributed. PARO Atega thanked FEDARCCO for organizing the said activity.
