Depeñoso, MSBA of DAR Surigao del Norte, initiated the activity through giving the rationale of the FGD Converge. The activity was set, to be able to raise challenges, issues and concerns from the three cooperatives, namely; CLACOFARMCO, SIMPUCO and CAFIFACOCO. These three cooperatives have one common need which is an additional working capital sufficient to support their operations.
The activity was also attended by the Provincial Director of DTI Mr. Celestino Migapatan and Ermegenio Garcia his staff, Ms. Angelita Mira Espinosa of the Philippine Coconut Authority and Claver Mayor’s representative.
In the forum, Mr. Chris Whitley explained the mechanics and implementation of the project. According to him they have to collect detailed information to be submitted to NEDA’s approval after studying the investment plan, understanding of the people’s organization needs and the local situation of the community especially the activities that the organization or the cooperative may undertake.
There was a tour inside the TMC-HPAL Mining Corporation after the forum where the coco coir was supplied. They were able to witness how it was used and saw how important was the coco coir to the company’s operation need.
