news reg 4 pix 1 oct. 3 2016SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur (Oct. 3, 2016)—More than 300 farmers here were oriented on the salient points of the genuine agrarian reform program (GARP) by Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Lawyer Atty. Joebert Pahilga.

He said the program seeks to break up land monopoly and distribute for free the agricultural lands to Filipino farmers, agricultural workers, fisher folks and indigenous peoples.

“The GARP pursues to eradicate all forms of oppression and exploitation of these rural peasants. It also contains principles that will pave the ground for genuine social justice,” explains Pahilga.

Pahilga said the GARP was formulated based from the experiences of farmers. “GARP is pro-farmers. The program is a product of consultations conducted by farmers’ groups namely the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas, Amihan and Unyon ng mga Mangagawa sa Agrikultura.”
