The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Agusan del Norte conducted three rounds of seminars on cooperative management and governance to educate farmers on the basics on cooperative principles, practices and transparencies in their respective organizations.
DAR Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Andre B. Atega said around 200 hundred participants in Agusan del Norte belonging to three Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBOs) participated in the trainings.
“The farmers actively participated in the proceedings. They also shared their experiences and presented their proposed goals for their organizations,” Atega said.
The ARBOs who attended were composed of cooperative officers, operational staff and members of the Avancena Beneficiaries and Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (ABFMPC), Taguibo Integrated Multi-Purpose Cooperative (TIMPCO) and the Bonifacio Agrarian Reform Cooperative (BARC).
The DAR commissioned speakers from the Resource Development Experience (RDE) Consultancy headed by the Executive Director Roger O. Fabe to orient the participants on cooperative management and governance.
The seminar was part of the DAR and CDA partnership program on strengthening and capacity building of ARBOs. The seminar was held on October 6 to 13, 2016 at different organizations in the province. (Gil E. Miranda)
