news reg 2 pix 1 april 1 2017BUTUAN CITY--The Provincial Agrarian Reform Office of Agusan del Norte conducted a training for five Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organization (ARBOs) leaders to teach them to formulate policies on credit and lending operations.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Andre Atega said the training entitled “Credit and Lending Policy Crafting and Enhancement” was designed to enhance the participants’ ability to manage credit operation of their respective ARBOs.

“These five ARBOs are among the very few who qualified under the government’s Agrarian Production Credit Program (APCP), who are capable of offering credit services to their agrarian reform beneficiary (ARBs) members,” Atega said.

APCP Coordinator Luningning Buque-Ycoy said that the DAR, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture and Land Bank of the Philippines is intensifying its effort in evaluating proposal for credit to ARBs.

“We want more farmers to get access to credit.  We are training these ARBOs to craft doable and sound policies for their farmer-members,” said Ycoy.

“The activity also assessed and reviewed the cooperative’s existing practices and how to address some problems they encountered related to credit and lending services to its members,” Ycoy added.

More than sixty participants consisted of coop leaders and officers participated in the training held last March 16-17, 2017 in Butuan City.
