SURIGAO CITY, Mar. 21 (PIA) – An agrarian reform beneficiary (ARB) received his indemnity claim worth P17,680.00 from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) through the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR)-PCIC Agricultural Insurance Program for ARBs.
ARB Eleuterio Bano, a resident of Brgy. Cawilan, Tubod, Surigao del Norte, was so ecstatic after receiving the said claim from the PCIC as it handed over to him by the Department of Agrarian Reform - Surigao del Norte (DAR-SDN) Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) II Jamil P. Amatonding, Jr. recently at the PARPO II’s Office, DAR-Surigao del Norte Provincial Office, this city.
Bano said that he is very happy to have received such kind of aid and he will show the check to his fellow farmers who were passive about the programs of PCIC.
“This will really help me defray the costs in buying fertilizers for my palay crop especially now that my crops have already grown fuller after re-planting,” Bano said.
PARPO Amatonding, on the other hand, was overwhelmed upon seeing pure joy in the face of ARB Bano.
He also encouraged Bano to show his check to his fellow farmers who were passive about the PCIC aid as proof that they can really rely on the government for help regarding crop damages in the future.
It can be recalled that Bano was a victim of the wrath of typhoon Yolanda last year, he was so bothered and worried when he learned that his palay crops were devastated by typhoon Yolanda but after learning from the DAR Municipal Office of Tubod that he can seek help from the DAR-PCIC Program, he documented the damages of his crops and rice field and then submitted the photos and filled-up the Pro-Forma Notice of Loss to the DAR office.
