BUTUAN CITY, June 11 (PIA) -- Nearly a thousand farmers gather to celebrate the 26th year of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) here on Tuesday, June 10.
Led by the Federation of Agrarian Reform Communities Cooperatives (Fedarcco) of Agusan del Norte and Butuan, other farmers from Agusan Sur, Surigao Sur, Surigao Norte and Dinagat Islands also came to join the celebration.
To make the celebration even more meaningful, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) handed-over 540 hectares of agricultural lands to 310 new beneficiaries from Butuan City and the municipalities of Las Nieves and Santiago of Agusan del Norte.
DAR Caraga regional director Faisar Mambuay, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) senior vice president Norman Cajucom, PCIC regional manager Rosa Gatinao and DAR asst. regional director Engr. Daylinda Narisma led the turn-over of the P3.3 million worth of indemnity check to 544 beneficiaries of the DAR-PCIC Agrarian Insurance Project (AIP). The project is aimed at providing protection to agricultural, fishery and agro-forestry.
Mambuay said that the agency will continue to provide the services due to every beneficiary. “Let us continue to unite, because from there we draw our victory,” he stressed. (Joie L. Ceballos, DAR-Caraga/PIA-Caraga)
