Caraga gets P302-M anti-poverty fund

manila-bulletin-logo2Remedios Trinidad Romualdez (RTR), Agusan del Norte — A total of P302 million in poverty alleviation infrastructure projects will be turned over to the localities in order to uplift the economic condition of the poorest of the poor in the Caraga region.

Department of Agrarian Reform 13 (DAR-13) which supervises the completion of the projects said among those to be funded are farm-to-market roads, bridges, irrigation, potable water systems, post-harvest facilities, and farm buildings or warehouses.

A P2.67-million municipal agrarian information and marketing center (AIMC) will serve as farmers’ one-stop market and training center.

“The idea is patterned after the success of the AIMC in Butuan City which is run by the Federation of Agrarian Reform Communities Cooperatives (FEDARRCO) of Agusan Norte and Butuan City,” said Region 13 DAR Regional Director Faisar A. Mambuay.

Mambuay said the projects in Caraga region are under the Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Projects III (ARISP III) of DAR-13).

Some of the big anti-poverty alleviation projects will be completed before the year ends while others have already been turned-over.
