Farmers’ marketing hub opens in Agusan del Norte

business mirrorAN information and marketing center for farmers in the municipality of Remedios T. Romualdez in Agusan del Norte is now open for business, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) announced on Monday.

In a statement, the DAR said it recently turned-over the P2.67-million Agrarian Information and Marketing Center (AIMC) to the people’s organization in the municipality.

The center aims to develop, promote and market products of agrarian-reform communities through trading, selling and capacity-building activities that include seminars and training, according to the DAR.

The 36-square-meter building will serve as the farmer’s one-stop market and training center, Agrarian Reform Regional Director Faisar Mambuay said.

“The idea is patterned after the success of the AIMC in Butuan City, which is run by the Federation of Agrarian Reform Communities Cooperatives of Agusan Norte and Butuan City,” Mambuay explained.

Mayor Ernie Ceniza, who was among the guests during the turn-over ceremony, expressed elation for the support from the DAR to the farmers of Remedios T. Romualdez.

“The wait is not in vain. We look forward to learning a lot in developing our agri products and marketing them,” says Marivic Virtudazo, a farmer and leader of the recipient- cluster of organizations. (Jonathan L. Mayuga)
