piaSURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte, Sept. 2 (PIA) – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Surigao del Norte Provincial Office has turned-over recently Irrigation System and Post-Harvest Facilities with a combined total cost worth P9,527, 521.00 million pesos to local government unit of Tubod, this province.

According to Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) II Jamil P. Amatonding, the project aimed to improve the productivity and uplift the economic well-being of the farmer-beneficiaries in the area.

The projects are the Tubod Communial Irrigation System, which will benefit 102 farmers and to be managed by Tubod Farmers Irrigators Association; the Cawilan Communal Irrigation Project that will serve 60 farmers and is under the management of Cawilan Farmers Irrigators Association; and the Tubod Post-Harvest Facilities which will be managed by the Tubod Farmers Multi-purpose Cooperative.

The said projects were implemented under the Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project (ARSIP) III and funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

 Rosalina L. Bistoyong together with DAR Caraga regional director Faisar A. Mambuay, National Irrigation Administration (NIA) project manager Engr. Helsy S. Bermudes, Tubod Municipal mayor Cristina Hermady R. Arcillas, and PARPO Amatonding led the ceremonial turn-over held at Barangay Del Rosario covered court.In her message, Usec. Bistoyong challenged the beneficiaries to maintain and use the infra-projects to its full capacity so that the goal to improve quality of life and increase production of rice will be achieved.

On his part, RD Mambuay said that the momentous event proved that the DAR still continues to


 farmer beneficiaries in uplifting their living conditions by providing them with support services.The farmer-beneficiaries were so grateful and vowed to take care and utilize the projects wisely.
