THE Department of Agrarian Reform opposed on Wednesday a proposal in the House of Representatives purportedly aimed at extending the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program’s land acquisition and distribution component, but actually watering down genuine land reform.
THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is set to improve its land tenure services (LTS) as it seeks to hasten the distribution of properties to landless farmers.

CEBU CITY, Jan. 10 — The top officials of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is currently conducting a conference for its third level officials to craft the department’s strategic plans and directions for 2017 to 2022.
The farmers were locked in a dispute with banana firm Lapanday Foods Corp. (LFC).
Dozens of soldiers and police were deployed as DAR officials and the regional sheriff implemented the cease-and-desist order (CDO) against LFC on Monday morning.
“The CDO directs Lapanday to desist from interfering with your operations inside your claimed area,” Adelaido Caminade, DAR Southern Mindanao sheriff, told the crowd of over 1,000 agrarian reform beneficiaries and their supporters, who responded by clapping.
This, after the Department of Agrarian Reform asserted that the two parties in the land dispute must respect the cease and desist order (CDO) issued by Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano.
The CDO which was released last Dec. 14, prohibited Lapanday “from forcibly evicting the members of petitioner Marbai from the subject landholding and from disturbing their peaceful possession and occupation of the subject property.”
GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Nov.30 — As the lead implementing agency of the agrarian reform program in the country, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is now conducting the National Conference of Presidential Agrarian Reform Coordinating Committee (PARCCOM) Chairpersons to orient the officials on the current thrust and policy directions of the administration.
The Presidential Agrarian Reform Council (PARC) Secretariat annually spearheads the conduct of the National Conference of the PARCCOM Chairpersons to assess the performance of the committee nationwide.
