GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Nov.30 — As the lead implementing agency of the agrarian reform program in the country, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is now conducting the National Conference of Presidential Agrarian Reform Coordinating Committee (PARCCOM) Chairpersons to orient the officials on the current thrust and policy directions of the administration.
The Presidential Agrarian Reform Council (PARC) Secretariat annually spearheads the conduct of the National Conference of the PARCCOM Chairpersons to assess the performance of the committee nationwide.
The PARCCOM Chairpersons, the provincial counterpart of the PARC Executive Committee (ExCom) and the partners of the PARC Secretariat, are tasked with the coordination and monitoring of the programs and activities implemented by the agrarian reform program implementing agencies at the field level.
According to DAR Undersecretary for Finance, Planning and Administration Office (FPAO) and PARC Secretary David Erro, the activity also serves as an effective venue for interaction and exchange of ideas and experiences among the PARCCOM members. It gives the chairpersons a chance to deliberate on the issues and concerns of the 75 PARCCOMs that need an intervention and/or resolution.
“As a partner in agrarian reform program implementation, the PARCCOM should be abreast of the current thrust and policy direction of the DAR, which is basically geared towards farmers’ protection and rural development,” Erro added.
The three-day National Conference of PARCCOM Chairpersons is being held at the Greenleaf Hotel, General Santos City from November 28 to December 01. (DAR)
