The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently installed 110 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in Polo, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental in a ceremony led by Undersecretary Karlo Bello of the Field Operations Office (FOO).

The 150-hectare of land covered under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) through Compulsory Acquisition, was owned by former Senator Rene Espina.

The installation and distribution of Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) last March was initiated by the Provincial Agrarian Reform Office of Negros Oriental South headed by Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) Atty. Louie L. Naranjo.

The installation was coordinated by the DAR Tanjay City Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer (MARPO) Nerio Garillos. Police Chief Coronel Catherine Ramos, City Vice Mayor Atty. Teopisto Calumpang, Jr., and Barangay Captain Felix Barba were present to support the activity.

It is noteworthy, that the DAR installed the first batch of the ARBs on their awarded land, amidst resistance of the petitioners, in July 2012.

Meanwhile, 11 qualified farmers were also installed in two landholdings which totaled to 20.37 hectares in Abis and Manlingay, Mabinay in a separate ceremony.

PARPO Elvira B. Bation and Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer (CARPO) Manuel M. Galon, Jr. spearheaded this installation in coordination with MARPOs Felipe Gaviola and Elizabeth Meneses.

An open forum followed after the distribution of CLOAs, reminding ARBs of their responsibilities now that they already own the land that they till.
