Castriciones swears in Orogo as new DAR Undersecretary

A week after President Rodrigo Roa Duterte named her undersecretary at the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), former Department of Social Welfare (DSWD) acting chief Virginia Orogo was sworn in by Secretary John R. Castriciones.

Orogo replaces David Erro who served as undersecretary for policy, planning and research, according to her appointment paper signed by Duterte on June 13 but released only by Malacañang on Wednesday.

Prior to her appointment as DAR Undersecretary, Orogo was acting social welfare chief at the DSWD and had also served as the agency’s undersecretary for special concerns.

She had also worked as deputy national program director for operations of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) since March 2018.

4Ps is the government’s flagship poverty-alleviation program implemented by the DSWD, which provides conditional cash grants to impoverished families to improve the health, nutrition, and education of children below 18 years old.

In her stint at the 4Ps, Orogo was in-charge of the operations of the program. She was also tasked to supervise the Pantawid National Program Management Office and ensure the attainment of the program’s objectives in line with the Department’s vision, mission, and organizational outcomes.

Secretary Orogo also served as alternate chairperson for the Inter-Country Adoption Board and co-chairman of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking.
