DAR Employees Extend Help to ARBs Affected by Earthquakes

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently conducted a relief distribution to agrarian reform beneficiaries from Southern Mindanao who were affected by the series of strong earthquakes in October.

The DAR team, led by Undersecretaries Emily Padilla and Virginia Orogo, DAR XI Regional Director Joseph Orilla, and PARPO II Terso Gregorio of Davao del Sur, personally distributed the first batch of aide. The package included water containers, food, and other essentials. These were donated by DAR employees from the Central Office, Davao Region, and other offices nationwide.

Aside from the relief goods, construction materials intended for the construction of toilet facilities in evacuation centers were likewise donated and turned over to the Municipal Government of Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.

This collective effort of the employees in conducting the relief distribution and extension of moral support is their way of paying forward the blessings they have received and is envisioned to be a continuing endeavor until the affected ARBs can fully recover from the trauma brought about by this disaster.

Per information released by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, earthquakes with a magnitude of 6.3, 6.6, and 6.5 were felt on three separate dates within a span of a few days last October. Affected municipalities include Matanao, Bansalan and Magsaysay in Davao del Sur. Considerable destruction was recorded in these areas and left majority of its residents with damaged homes and receding potable water.
