The Department of Agrarian Reform has distributed 80 hectares of agricultural lands
to 29 farmers recently in barangay Gaway-Gaway, San Remigio town in northern
Cebu.
Cebu provincial agrarian reform officer II (PARO) Fua urged the new farmer-
beneficiaries to make the most out of the land that was previously owned by the
Martinez Agricultural Corporation (MAC) by working harder towards doubling their
produce.
Fua awarded the certificates of land ownership award (CLOAs) to the farmer-
beneficiaries in the presence of San Remigio Mayor Jay Olivar, landowner’s son Bago
town Vice-Mayor Miguel Maia Martinez and MAC lawyer Exaltacion Navarro.
Fua encouraged them to organize themselves into a cohesive organization that is
worthy of DAR assistance through the provision of support services.
She also reminded the new landowners to honor their obligations by paying their
taxes as well as their land amortization to Land Bank.
Martinez said he and his family are happy that their farmers were also among the
beneficiaries of their lands. He advised them to value the land by making it productive.
A ceremonial plowing and placing of CARP covered property followed after the brief
installation of beneficiaries in the MAC.
