National Project Coordinating Office (NPCO) recently validated some potential areas for Irrigation project within Zamboanga Sibugay that will be funded primarily by Agrarian Reform Community Project II (ARCP II) in the province. NPCO’s area validation lasted for two days which includes site visits in three POs namely: Titay, Namnama and Azusano Irrigators Association which are considered as prospective recipient of the irrigation projects. In the same process, they aim to evaluate how the existing irrigation helps the farmers in the area.
Among the areas validated were the Titay CIS, Namnama CIS and Azusano CIS which are from Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay which makes up the total land area of 512 hectares. The Titay CIS has a total of 136 hectares irrigated area, 55 hectares for restoration and 45 hectares potential irrigable area. Likewise, Namnama CIS has a total of 180 hectares irrigated area and 91 hectares potential irrigable land.
