The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently distributed pockets of landholdings, totaling 1,388.49 hectares of agricultural lands to 969 farmer-beneficiaries in Western Mindanao.
Agrarian Reform Secretary Virgilio De los Reyes said the awarded Certificates of Landownership Awards (CLOAs) covered different municipalities of Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay.
The municipalities are Ramon Magsaysay, Tambulig, Midsalip, Pagadian City, Dumalinao, Kumalarang, Dinas, Guipos, San Pablo, Tigbao and Vicenso Sagun in Zamboanga del Sur; Buug, Diplahan, Malangas, Mabuhay, Alicia, Siay, Kabasalan, Naga, Ipil, Titay, Tungawan and R.T. Lim in Zamboanga Sibugay; and Godod, Dapitan, Polanco, Sindangan, Manukan and Roxas in Zamboanga del Norte.
De los Reyes made it a double celebration for farmer-beneficiaries as he turned-over P3.16-million worth of farm equipment consisting of harvester, hand tractors reapers and treshers, all implemented under the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS ) to them.
The Secretary said the government support for the beneficiaries does not end in land distribution. “DAR, DA, LBP and other government agencies involved in CARP implementation coordinate with each other to ensure that the beneficiaries of CARP will have a better quality of life after receiving their land titles,” he added.

The farm equipments are distributed to two agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations – Kumalarang Farmers Irrigators Association in Zamboanga del Zur servicing 1,956 ARBs in the 26 barangays of District 1, and the Dumingag Organic Farmers Credit and Service Cooperative in the Salug Valley Cluster, that has a target beneficiaries of 2, 852 farmers in the nine barangays of Dumingag.
De los Reyes stated that the department is now following a method wherein during the processing of the CLOA, the different support services will also be facilitated such as agrarian credit from Land Bank, agri-extention from DA, farm machineries from DAR and other assistance that will help strengthen the famer beneficiaries and their organizations.
ARCCESS is an alternative rural development approach wherein support services provided by the DAR are delivered directly to selected agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations.
