The Department of Agrarian Reform recently installed 84 new agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Negros Occidental.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Lucresia Taberna said that 67 new farmer beneficiaries were installed in 122.9213 hectares in Brgy. Don Salvador Benedicto, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental. The property was acquired through voluntary offer to sell (VOS).
Taberna said that the other 17 new farmer beneficiaries were installed in 50.5573 hectares acquired through Compulsory Acquisition in Hacienda Canticbil Tonsay, Brgy. Robles, La Castellana, Negros Occidental.
She encouraged the new farmer beneficiaries to cultivate their own lands and make it productive for the benefit of the next generation.
Mrs. Ma. Fe Magno, in behalf of her fellow farmer beneficiaries, was very thankful to the DAR personnel who help them acquire lands.
The installation was conducted with the assistance of the Philippine National Police headed by Pontevedra Chief, Ariel Pico and Chief Ruben Pajarito of La Castellana Police Station.
After the installation, DAR Negros Occidental announced that it is ready to intervene for the development of ARBs through the support services such as Agrarian Production Credit Program (APCP) and Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS). (Riza Dee C. Alojado)
