DAR distributes lands in Cebu

WEB CEBUThe Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently distributed certificates of land ownership award (CLOAs) to 85 farmers in Toledo City, Cebu to improve their economic lives.

Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer (MARPO) Nestor Castro said the distributed landholding,  covering a total of 100 hectares, is situated in Barangay Talavera in Toledo City. It was formerly owned by the Villalon Realty Corporation and was distributed under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

The farmers are engaged in vegetable farming and production of high-value crops.  
During the awarding ceremonies, Castro discussed the rights and obligations of the farmer-beneficiaries and assured them of the necessary support services to make their lands productive.
 
“As new landowners you also have the responsibility to pay your taxes and amortizations religiously to reciprocate the government’s good deeds to you,” Castro said.
 
Officials who witnessed the awarding ceremonies were Municipal Agriculture Officer Lucille Tumarong,  Talavera Barangay Captain Nick Mahinog, and other DAR personnel. (Rosanna Gay S. Visitacion)
