news 1 national 1 july 6 2015The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently turned over two (2) units of Corn Sheller Husker to Malaueg Savings and Trading Cooperative (MALASATCO) in Rizal, Cagayan to increase production of the farmer-beneficiaries in the said municipality.

Regional Director, Atty. Marjorie Ayson, said the farm machineries are intended for mechanized corn production and trading of the said cooperative. “These machineries will reduce the production cost of the cooperative and, at the same time, will generate more income for the farmers,” she said.

The corn shellers will service about 1,079 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) and 1,151 non-ARBs in the corn-producing Malaueg Agrarian Reform Community.

During the turnover of the machineries, Support to Operations Director Jessbeth G. Quidasol told farmers to manage the machineries so that they would last longer.

MALASATCO chairman Julian C. Unite signed a trust agreement and acknowledgment receipt with Virgilio M. Acasili, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II of Cagayan.

Ayson said the farm machineries were awarded under the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS) project.

The MALASATCO will also receive 90-horsepower four-wheel drive tractors from DAR  in the next batch of the ARCCESS project.
