The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently turned over eleven farm equipment worth P25 million to the agrarian reform beneficiaries in Cagayan region to boost their farm productivity.
Regional Director Atty. Marjorie Ayson said the farm machines include three hand tractors, two rice threshers and six heavy tractors with accompanying disc plows, trailing harrows and trailers.
Ayson said the equipment was turned over to four farmers’ cooperatives in Cagayan Valley, four in Isabela and three in Nueva Vizcaya.During the turn-over rites, Vice Governor Albano expressed his commitment to support the programs of DAR. He said the farmers should take good care of their new farm equipment, “Use it for community advancement, do not use it for your own interest and be sure that through you these farm machineries will help our province, [our] region and the nation’s progress.”
To show his goodwill and support, Albano gave each farm cooperative P10,000.00 for fuel expenses.
The farm equipment is being provided to farm cooperatives under the DAR’s Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity Economic Support Services (ARCCESS).
Ayson said through ARCCESS, the DAR would introduce new farming technology to farmer-beneficiaries to develop their cooperatives and ultimately increase their farm yield.
“The machines are expected to enhance the economic conditions of farmers because it will greatly improve their farm production. The equipment will also make farming easier for them,” Ayson said. (DAR Region 2 Information Officers Team)
