WEB NATL Reg12 ARCESS 20150921 01COTABATO CITY—The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has recently turned over 24 mechanized farm machines worth P21.9 million to farmers belonging to Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organization (ARBOs) in Central Mindanao.

Regional Director Nasser Musali said the machines are intended for rice and corn production of agrarian reform cooperatives here. “With these mechanized farm machines, farmers can now till their farms faster and more efficiently,” he said.

The farm machines the DAR turned over include heavy tractors, corn shellers, threshers and floating tillers.

According to Musali, “the farm equipment was given based on a focused group discussion we conducted with farm cooperatives. In order to cope with market demand, the farmers said they need mechanized machines to produce more rice and corn.”
Prior to the turn over, the DAR conducted an orientation for farmer-members of ARBOs for the proper use and handling of the mechanized farm machines. The farmers were oriented on proper operation, mounting of accessories, safety, care and maintenance of the equipment.

The farm machines are being provided to farm cooperatives under the DAR’s Agrarian Reform Communities Connectivity and Economic Support Services. (Sara Jane Sinsuat)
