Farmer beneficiaries take possession of awarded lands in Ormoc City

on .
The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has recently installed 13 farmer- beneficiaries  in a 16-hectare landholding in Barangay Catmon, Ormoc City.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) Renato Badilla said the DAR conducts installation activities for farmer-beneficiaries, who had long been deprived of possession of their awarded landholdings and those who could not till their farmlots because of threats from other individuals.
Badilla said the aims of the agrarian reform program is to ensure the security of tenure of the farmer beneficiaries and their empowerment.
He added that the DAR may seek the assistance of the PNP and AFP if needed  pursuant to a joint issuance agreed on by the agencies.
Badilla said siblings Rex and Ramon Doyon also took possession of their CARP-awarded landholdings measuring 1.2977 hectares and 1.4266 hectares in Barangay Cabulihan, Ormoc City.
He urged the Doyon  brothers to cultivate the land and make it productive and pay the amortizations due to the Land Bank of the Philippines.
The installation activity was a result of a writ issued by the DAR Adjudication Board (DARAB) prompted by threats received by the Doyon brothers from other farmers in the area. (John Colasito)
