The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently distributed 10.34-hectares of agricultural lands to eight (8) agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Itaran, Polangui, Albay.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) Leo Miguel A. Ramos said the ceremony was carried out to remind the new ARBs the true mission of the agrarian reform program and the department’s sincerity in the continuous support to farmers.
“The government also provide support services to you (the farmer-beneficiaries) so that you could nurture the land more and improve your economic lives. However, the land you now own also bears responsibilities as you need to pay your real property tax and amortization. In order for you to continuously pay, you have to properly cultivate the land and enrich it as it will be the greatest gift you can give to your children,” Ramos said.
ARB Guillermo Portugal expressed his gratitude to the DAR’s efforts and endless support to the beneficiaries. “We are very thankful for the effort of the DAR in helping us own our land. We have long dreamt for this day to come as we wish for a better life for our family,” Portugal shared.
The ceremony, spearheaded by PARPO Ramos, was attended by Municpal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Lazaro Perillo, Landbank of the Philippines (LBP)-Agrarian Operation Center Regional Manager Narciso Villareal, Rolly Dela Peña of LBP, Judge Blancaflor Salgado, Mayor Cherilie Sampal and OIC-Municipal Assessor Nelson Aquino.
