Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Engr. Marion Y.  Abella said the projects with a combined amount of P1,467,472.59 include the construction of a daycare center and the construction of a mini-warehouse with solar dryer benefiting barangays Dualing and New Leon of the said town, respectively.

“The project was implemented to reduce poverty and enhance the delivery of basic services at the barangay level, especially in agrarian reform areas in North Cotabato,” Abella said.

Abella added the said projects were proposed by the New Leon Multi-Purpose Cooperative and the Dualing Solar Power Association to the Local Poverty Reduction Action Team (LPRAT) of the municipality of Aleosan.
Meanwhile, Aleosan Mayor Vicente Suropia expressed his gratefulness, especially to DAR, that projects are still coming in even in the midst of a long drought that greatly affects the farmers in the municipality.

“We are very happy that these facilities are already available when the rainy season comes. Even we are stricken by El Niño Phenomenon, I can still see the happy faces of the recipients/farmers as they received these projects,” Suropia said.

He assured DAR on the sustainability of the projects because the LGU has the Monitoring and Evaluation Team who will look into the quality and maintenance of all projects in the municipality.

New Leon Multi-Purpose Cooperative Chairman Gil Pastolero said the project will not only benefit the people of the barangay but also their neighboring barangays.

“The mini-warehouse with solar dryer will be a big help to the Cooperative in its income generating activity because the services are also open to other barangays. As the Chairman, I will ensure the sustainability of the project that you have entrusted to us,” Pastolero said.

Ranulfo Estavilla, BUB Point Person said the LGU of Aleosan has also shared 10% of the total project cost as counterpart.
