DAR completes five projects in Ilocos Norte

news national pix 1 may 10 2016The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has recently completed five  projects in Ilocos Norte aside from the regular services it provides to the agrarian reform beneficiaries.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Engr. Vic M. Ines said the DAR in partnership with the Japan International Cooperating Agency (JICA) and the local government of Ilocos Norte provided an estimated amount of P20 million fund  to complete the project.

He said the concreting and improvement of the San Jose and Santo Tomas Road in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte is part of the Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project (ARISP) which is now on its third phase of implementation. news national pix 2 may 10 2016Ines said the road enhancement will benefit the Cabaroan Agrarian Reform Community (ARC) whose products need to be transported to the different parts of the province and the region.

news national pix 3 may 10 2016Ines added that a Binakol Craft Production Building was also turned over to the San Jose Multipurpose Cooperative in Barangay San Jose, Sarrat.

He said  that the building was built through the DAR’s village level processing center enhancement project (VLPCEP).

“Out of the P603,322 total project cost, DAR contributed P240,000. The local government of Sarrat allocated P200,000, while the San Jose MPC shelled out P163,322,” Ines said.

Earlier, DAR-Ilocos Norte also turned over to the different cooperatives the following projects: Tamarind Wine Processing Building in Camanga, Badoc; Mango Wine Production Building in Bugayong, Nueva Era; and Loom Weaving Production Building in Mumulaan, Paoay.  (by Jorge Guerrero, Ilocos Norte)
