DAR Secretary Virgilio de los Reyes said today that he is ready to hand over the administration of the Department to Rafael Mariano and is looking forward to a smooth transition.
He added that the Department has been working since late last year preparing its end of term and transition report in order to give the incoming DAR Secretary a clear picture of the state of agrarian reform while will enable him to immediately determine the priorities of the next administration and set the direction of the Department in the next 6 years.
De los Reyes is expected to hand over his report to Mariano when they meet on Wednesday to discuss the transition.
The DAR secretary added that the transition report is a product of research and discussions, which included the views and opinions culled from other government agencies, international organizations, the agrarian reform beneficiaries themselves, and employees of the Department so that they can provide the next Secretary with a report that is as close to the ground as possible.
To be included in the report is a briefer on the Hacienda Luisita, including the status of the implementation of the Supreme Court order to distribute the land owned by Hacienda Luisita, Inc., and the acquisition and distribution process of the portion of the Hacienda which is owned by Tarlac Development Corporation which was not part of the Supreme Court.
President-elect Rodrigo Duterte announced last week that Rafael Mariano will head the agrarian reform agency.
