DILIMAN, Quezon City (Aug. 26, 2016)—The World Bank Philippines (WB) represented by Country Director Mara Warwick and her team, paid a courtesy call on Secretary Rafael Mariano to express their support to the rural development program of the Department.
Warwick said the WB has done numerous projects for the Department for the last 20 years. She assured the Secretary of their support in terms of programs and infrastructure projects.
Warwick suggested for DAR and WB coordinate ad share information on matters of financing on credit programs for agrarian reform beneficiaries.
Mariano on his part gave suggestions on how the WB can continue to be of great help to agrarian reform beneficiaries.
Mariano informed the WB officials of the thrusts and directives of DAR. He also informed them that the Department sent a letter to the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) confirming that project “Inclusive Partnerships for Agricultural Competitiveness,” is a priority project of the DAR. He said that he has requested inclusion of the said project in the next NEDA Board meeting in September. (Pinky Roque)
