DAR Turns Over P30-M Road Project

news national 1 pix 1 may 9 2017Efforts to improve the economic condition of farming communities in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur got a big boost as the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently turned-over a Php30 million road network project.

DAR OIC-Director III Venchito S. Mandap said the infrastructure project, which is tagged by the locals as the “longest road” covers six kilometers and now connects the barangays of Poblacion, Sto. Niño, Maraga-a and Panaglib.

“Roads are vital components in the department’s drive to spur rural development in farm communities,” said Mandap.
news national 1 pix 2 may 9 2017“The construction of the farm-to-market road would end the struggle of the residents in traversing the road, which used to be rocky and very muddy when it rains,” added Mandap.

news national 1 pix 3 may 9 2017The road network was implemented under the DAR’S Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project III (ARISP III). It commenced construction in 2013 and was completed in 2015.  This project is in collaboration with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and assisted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Kiblawan Davao del Sur Municipal Mayor Carl Jason Rama, expressed his gratitude to the implementing agencies. 

“This road would make transporting agri-products faster. We expect the trade and commerce here to greatly improve ,” said Rama.

The turn-over ceremony was attended by DAR XI OIC-Director III Venchito S. Mandap, OIC-Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Elmerito N. Gerigdig, DAR XI Program Beneficiaries Development Division employees, officials from the recipient barangays and the Department of Public Works and Highways of Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental.
