1,217 Isabela Farmers Received P2.4-M Aid From DAR

news national 1 pix 1 march 7 2018The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently turned over P2.466-million worth of support projects to two agrarian reform beneficiary organizations (ARBOs), with 1,217 members, in the towns of Mallig and San Guillermo in Isabela province aimed to help improve the production and quality of their farm business enterprises.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Alfredo B. Lorenzo Jr. said the DAR delivered to the ARB Crop Growers Association of San Guillermo town two cacao roasters worth P1,378,000 and three cacao grinders worth P690,000.  

Lorenzo said the Department also awarded to Malaya Development Cooperative a soft serve ice cream maker worth P249,000 and a bottle filling machine worth P149,000.
news national 1 pix 2 march 7 2018ARB Crop Growers Association Manager Ferdinand Sanchez lauded DAR for providing the much-needed machineries, which could help increase the volume of their cacao production by ten folds.

“The processing of our products was previously done manually. We usually get more or less P300 weekly income on our production. The machineries will certainly be of great help,” Sanchez said.

Sanchez also shared that their organization is eyeing Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) as one of their market partners now that they are capable to meet the supply demand of the company.

Moreover, the facilities will also help attract more members in their organizations.

PARPO Lorenzo, on his part, said the pronouncement of the President to address the poverty incidence to our sector of our society to quest for the better life is now bearing into fruition through these facilities.

“I also thank Secretary John Castriciones, Undersecretary Rosalinda Bistoyong and Undersecretary Emily Padilla for approving the specialized equipment of the two ARBOs,” Lorenzo said.

PARPO Lorenzo assured that these specialized facilities would be utilized for the farmer’s livelihood to augment their income. He also said that DAR Provincial Office of Isabela will strictly monitor the project to be used for the intended purpose and will last and benefit the ARBs.

In response to this, ARBO- recipients guaranteed to manage well the facilities given to them.
