LUNA, KAPALONG, Davao del Norte – Five agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Kapalong, Davao del Norte finally savored the fruits of their long years of struggle in persevering life-threatening oppositions from the former landowner and a multi-national company who held on their land despite being already covered by the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) way back in 2013.
Recently, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) under the administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the leadership of Secretary John R. Castriciones, handed over to them their respective certificates of land ownership award (CLOAs).
The distribution of the five CLOAs was held in a simple and peaceful ceremony attended by regional and local representatives of the DAR headed by PARPO Jocelyn Seno of DAR Davao del Norte.
The activity was also witnessed by Barangay Captain Romel Beldua of Luna, Kapalong and Lodenilo Tabaldo, the chairperson of the Barangay Agrarian Reform Committee in the area.
In her message to the ARBs, PARPO Seno imparted the obligations of an agrarian reform beneficiary especially on the regular payment of taxes and land amortizations.
She also challenged the ARBs to work collectively and double the produce generated from their banana farms even if the land was distributed and awarded in an individual manner.
PARPO Seno also expressed her gratitude and lauded the ARBs for their resilience and not resorting to devious means despite the stumbling blocks they encountered that delayed their installation for so many years.
She also took note of the peaceful transition of the land occupation by the newly-installed ARBs. [RS Maala/RIO DAR XI]
