DAVAO CITY – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) regional office XI joined the rest of the national agencies and local government units (LGUs) in the area in a two-day Serbisyo Caravan of the Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies in Region XI (ARENA XI).
The caravan was held in the remote area of Sitio Panaga, Barangay Colosas, Paquibato District, Davao City last May 17 to 18.
The event was also graced by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
The DAR contingent was led by Regional Director Joseph H. Orilla and Terso D. Gregorio, the Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer of Davao City.
They were joined by the key personnel from DAR-XI and DAR-Davao City, specifically from the Land Tenure Services, Legal Services, and Program Beneficiaries Division.
A total of nine agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) received their certificates of land ownership award (CLOA) during the caravan that covered a 15-hectare property in Barangay Sumimao, Paquibato District.
Sara, together with RD Horilla, PARPO Gregorio, Secretary Francis Tolentino of the Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs and the officers of ARENA-XI led the ceremonial distribution of CLOAs.
DAR also extend legal and support services to the residents in the area during the activity.
The Serbisyo Caravan, a flagship project of ARENA XI, is a yearly activity that started in 2011.
It serves as the avenue for national and local government agencies to bring its services closer to the grassroots, especially in the remote communities in Davao Region.
This is the second time that the activity was conducted in Paquibato District, one of the farthest and remote areas in Davao City.
The peace and order situation in the said area is constantly threatened due to the continued presence of lawless groups, particularly the communist rebels.
