ARBs, ARBOs join DAR-Davao in commemoration of CARP anniversary

news national 1 pix 1 june 22 2018DAVAO CITY – Around 500 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) coming from various agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARB0s) were gathered by the Department of Agrarian Reform, Davao City (DAR-Davao City) for a one-day celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) on Friday, June 22 at the Mergrande Resort in this city.

Dubbed as “Pakiglambigit” or to socialize and interact with each other, the activity was aimed to strengthen the bonding and relationship between the ARBs and ARBOs from various areas in Davao City.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) Terso Gregorio said the occasion also served as a venue where DAR officials and employees converged and joined with the ARBs and ARBOs in various programs and activities.

The gathering was also graced by DAR Undersecretary David Erro of Policy, Planning and Research Office, Assistant Secretary Elmer Distor of Field Operations Office, and Director Leomides R. Villareal of the Public Assistance and Media Relations Service (PAMRS).

In his message, Usec. Erro said that DAR is now gearing for the rebirth of the agrarian reform program in the country as visualized by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Erro pointed out that the President wants to cover not only agricultural lands but also those government lands that are suited for agricultural production.

news national 1 pix 3 june 22 2018He also told the ARBs and ARBOs that DAR, under the leadership of Secretary John R. Castriciones will strengthen its partnership with financial institutions, such as the Land Bank of the Philippines to provide more financing support to the ARBs.

The agency will also commence its housing program for the ARBs, he added, reporting that Panabo City will be the pilot site of the housing program in Davao region.

Dir. Villareal, in his message, urged the ARBs and ARBOs to make use of the activity to boost their relationships and partnerships especially in the undertaking of programs and services in communities.

Being the beneficiaries of DAR’s program is an opportunity to grow in terms of agricultural productivity and improve living conditions, Villareal said.news national 1 pix 4 june 22 2018

It is the intention of President Duterte to dignify the farmers in the country by providing them land and support services, he added.

A total of 29 ARBs also received their respective certificates of land ownership award (CLOAs) during the occasion.

PARPO Gregorio said the distributed CLOAs covered a total land area of 31.4 hectares in the areas of Toril (10.6 hectares), Calinan (5 hectares), and Paquibato District (15.8 hectares).
