9,140 ARBs benefit from DAR capacity building programs

news national 2 pix 1 july 26 2018Some 9,140 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Zamboanga Peninsula started putting to good use the capacity building programs that the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has extended to them.

This was reported by DAR Regional Director Julita Ragandang during the department’s on-going 2018 mid-year performance review and planning session in Tagaytay City.

Ragandang said under the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Development Sustainability Program (ARBDSP), famer-members belonging to 172 agrarian reform beneficiary organizations (ARBOs) were trained on micro financing, business development, credit management, product enhancement and basic cooperative management training, just to name a few.

“These training are all geared towards empowering farmers. We are shaping them to become farmer-entrepreneurs who are competitive and can understand the business they are venturing into. We want them to be able to understand and negotiate business on their own,” Ragandang said.

The DAR’s performance review and planning session is currently being conducted from July 24-27, to resolve and address problems in implementing agrarian reform for the year.
