DAR launches farm business school program to boost entreprenurial skills of Agusan farmers

news national 1 pix 1 august 9 2018To boost the entrepreneurial skills of farmers in Agusan del Norte, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has launched a farm business school (FBS) program to effectively manage their farm produce and optimize their profitability.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Andre Atega said the FBS aims to develop agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) become agricultural entrepreneurs.

“We want to make their farms profitable and make them understand the ins and outs of business to that they can respond to market challenges,” said Atega.

“Building up the capabilities of agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations (ARBOs) in handling and marketing their farm products is among the priorities of DAR,” added Atega.

The FBS will benefit farmer-members of ARBOs belonging to the Dona Rosario certificate of land ownership award (CLOA) Holders Vegetable Producers Association (DRCHVPA) and the Kabayawa Sala Farmers Association.

The farmers will be taught on bookkeeping, cash flows, market surveys, labor, product selling, product costing and proper packaging of their products.

The farm business school is established by the DAR, Agricultural Training Institute of the Department of Agriculture (DAR-ATI) and the local government of Tubay. (Gil Miranda, Information Officer)
