news national 1 pix 1 september 4 2018Catbalogan, Samar – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) will soon have its permanent municipal and provincial offices in the province of Samar this after two towns donated land sites with a total area of 700 square meters.

This gesture of goodwill to the DAR is to show appreciation for helping the local government units improve the lives of the farmer-beneficiaries in the area.

DAR Region 8 Director Sheila Enciso said, Paranas town donated a 300-square-meter lot for the municipal office while the town of Catbalogan provided a 400-square-meter site for the provincial office.

"These towns have allocated lands to be used by the DAR as offices because they have seen the department as only renting office spaces," Enciso said.

Enciso also revealed that the DAR spends P250,000.00 and P140,000.00 monthly rent for its provincial and municipal offices, respectively.

“Now, we can begin to make plans and provide the necessary financial requirements to put up the DAR’s new offices, which would eventually yield savings to the department,” she added.news national 1 pix 2 september 4 2018

Paranas Mayor Eunice Babalcon said the province of Samar appreciates the DAR’s efforts in helping the farmers improve their agricultural and economic lives.

“We are one with the DAR in helping the people. We assure you that you can count on us in helping you succeed in all your endeavors,” Babalcon said.
