DAR Sportsfest 2018 kicks off

Castriciones promoted health and wellness among the Department of Agrarian Reform's community of employees at the opening ceremonies of the DAR Sportsfest 2018 at the DAR Central Office Covered Courts in Diliman, Quezon City.
This is the first sports meet under the administration of Secretary Castriciones who also initiated the event to strengthen camaraderie among the officials and employees of the department.  

“We need to be healthy in mind, body and spirit,” said Castriciones who displayed a high level of stamina as he led the day’s warmup exercises.

Undersecretary Emily Padilla of the Support Services Offices (SSO), a volleyball player in her high school days, added that “through sports we can acquire discipline, agility, and resilience and apply these in all aspects of our lives.”news national 1 pix 2 november 22 2018

A total of ten teams, representing different DAR offices and units will compete in the sports festival. These are the following: Office of the Secretary; Support Services Office; Field Operations Office; Finance Management and Administrative Office; Policy, Planning and Research Office; DAR Region IV-CALABARZON; DAR Region IV-MIMAROPA; Janitorial/Maintenance Group (LQ); and the Security Unit (TOPWATCH). 

Each competing team prepared and presented a cheer dance number, the winner of which will be announced in the closing ceremony on December. The San Jose Del Monte Band and Wowowin Dancers also provided entertainment during the program.

Prior to the opening ceremony, a fun run was held around the DAR Central Office Compound.
