P30.45-M bridge seen to boost agrarian community in Ilocos Sur

March 14 2014 pix 1The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently turned-over P30.45-million worth of bridge project to farmer-beneficiaries belonging to the Taclin agrarian reform community (ARC) in the municipality of Banayoyo in Ilocos Sur to provide a faster and more convenient transport of agricultural products.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) Christianne C. Suguitan said the infrastructure project, called Binnuyog bridge, has a span of 71.70-meters connecting Taclin ARC to Salavador ARC in the town of Candon.

The project was jointly funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), DAR and the local government of Banayoyo implemented under Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project (ARISP).

March 14 2014 pix 2The Binnuyog bridge is expected to pave way for more income opportunities as it will provide more access to various markets and trading centers with minimal travel expense.

The farmers, on the other hand, said that now that their community is more accessible, provisions of basic services like health, technology, and education assistance to their community would be fully realized.
