DAR Agusan Del Norte transforms 330 farmers into landowners

March 18 2014 News2 Pix 1AGUSAN DEL NORTE – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently transforms a total of 330 farmers in Agusan del Norte into new landowners following the distribution of titles to 178 farmers to 175.4745 hectares of agricultural lands in Barangay Macalang, Buenavista and 203 hectares of lands to 152 farmers in Barangay Consorcia, Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) II Andre B. Atega congratulated the new landowners and encouraged them to take good care of their lands and make them more productive.

Governor Ma. Angelica Rosedell M. Amante-Matba expressed appreciation to the DAR for its commitment to pursue land distribution and improve the lives of agrarian reform beneficiaries.

“I am proud to say that the DAR in Agusan del Norte under the leadership of PARPO II Andre B. Atega is dedicated in their tasks of improving the lives of agrarian reform beneficiaries,” she said.

Las Nieves Mayor Avelina S. Rosales, on the other hand, lauded the DAR’s commitment to help the farmers own the land they are tilling especially in her municipality.March 18 2014 News2 Pix 2

A teary-eyed 65 year-old Elicima F. Lasco, a farmer-beneficiary of a two-hectare rice land in Barangay Consorcia, La Nieves said after receiving her Certificate of Land Ownership Award that her patience finally paid off as she is now the title holder of the land she is tilling.

Likewise, 83 year-old farmer beneficiary Geronima D. Rante from Barangay Macalang, Buenavista thanked the DAR for the land given to her, which she promises to make productive.

PARPO Atega said DAR’s performance in land acquisition and distribution (LAD) in Agusan del Norte has always been consistently above 100 percent since 2004.

In the year 2013, Agusan del Norte made a remarkable 226 percent accomplishment in LAD component with 1,586 landless farmers transformed into landowners.
